Quick Burnout SOS Guide

Find a good podcast about it. Short episodes are great.

  • Take away all pressure. Calm your nervous system. Meditate, take a bath, close your eyes, walk in a park, listen, look around, and take a deep breath. Your body has been on for too long. In flight/fight mode. It takes time to have your body feel relaxed again.

  • Monitor activities and energy day by day. What gave you energy that day, and what drained you? It gives a better insight into your healing process.

  • Don’t set a deadline or expectation for yourself when you should be better again. All pressure isn’t making your healing process go faster. Also, when you notice that it’s still not going good, you will be less disappointed.

  • Don’t force a daily routine when you’re really burnt out. It puts pressure on your body. Listen to your body what it needs. Sleep more if your body feels like it. Stretch when your muscles feel sore.

  • Be aware of everything you do. Get to know your boundaries. Tired? Go home. Lie down or sit in silence for a while. Is someone sucking energy out of you? Take some healthy distance and let someone in again when you have more energy. Sometimes your energy level is lower to handle some people, and it doesn’t mean you have to cut that people completely out of your life.

Be kind to yourself.

It takes time. I think it happened for a reason. You didn’t listen to your body in time. Use this time to become a better version of yourself. Know how to listen to your body AND act on it.
